5 factors that affect how you sleep
Medical experts have recommended that we need at least 8 hours of sleep per day to maintain a healthy body balance. It has been said that sleep is a good time for our body to rest and body tissues to be repaired. Also, people who have a good sleep pattern tend to feel less fatigued, have a clearer head for cogitation, have healthy respiration, and have several other benefits.

Many successful businessmen have attributed their success stories to more hours of research, diligence in effort, and less sleep. People have found it almost impossible to strike a balance between the need to follow medical advice or the pang to be extraordinaire. In this post, I will be sharing with you five factors that affect your sleep.

Before we proceed, I must thank The Watchtower-Web Design Agency Dubai for making this platform possible to share my article. Several factors could be negatively affecting your sleep. Luckily, there are simple solutions to each of them. Below are the top five factors that affect sleep and how to fix them.

There are five factors that affect how you sleep.

1. Stress
Stress is simply overdriving the body to perform functions that have exceeded its normal capacity going by the amount of energy that has been put in.

Stress could be physical or tangible, such that one can view or hold it to see the things that overdrive one. As such, stress can be psychological or intangible.

This means that the things that stress us could either be things that we can see or things that are just at the cognitive stage whereby one thinks only.

2. Smoking
There is a need to understand that nicotine is a stimulant that keeps smokers awake, such that they barely sleep.

Smokers have been confirmed to have far more disputed sleep patterns than non-smokers. It is known that the more you smoke, the more likely you will develop insomnia.

Smoking changes your circadian rhythm and causes poor sleep.

If you don’t learn anything new here, please note that smoking two hours before bed makes it more likely that you will have a poor night’s rest. If you’re going to smoke, it is advised that you smoke your last cigarette of the day well before bedtime.

3. Sleep pills
When it comes to sleeping pills, people are easily addicted to them. Melatonin requires a higher dosage to be effective. Just like moderation is always required in the place of action, it is advised that the frequent use of sleeping pills will gradually hinder your body's ability to fall asleep on its own.

It is advised that you limit your dosage if a tablet is necessary for you to fall asleep, and avoid taking it every night.

4.Good meals
While many people who fast may experience daytime fatigue, their daily performance is often unaffected. However, whether we are aware of it or not, fasting has an impact on our sleep.

Food restriction frequently makes people more alert.

For those who fast during Ramadan or other religious holidays, starting with shorter fasts in the days before the fasting period can help your body adjust, minimizing the detrimental effects of fasting on sleep.

5. Sex
I know most people may shy away from this, but sex is one of the most stress-relieving therapies for good sleep.

A study has shown that sex before bed can make it easier to fall asleep.

This is a no-brainer since most people are typically exhausted after exerting so much energy.

Being aware of what might be affecting your sleep is the first step towards a good night’s rest.

Cortisol can be reduced by sex as a sexually advised stress-related hormone that can make it difficult to fall asleep. While this may not appeal to everyone, you should find yourself more stimulated and awake after sex. Avoid it right before bed.
